Aug. 7th, 2013 09:47 pmSo some weeks I work six days, and some weeks they give me an extra day off (which I almost never know about until the morning of). When I work six days, that last day is all overtime, at time and a half.
And Oh god, I could really use a day off this week to sleep in and then poke tumblr all day. I really, really could use one. I've worked overtime every day I've worked for a bit now. Also I have this really annoying nauseous stomachache that keeps coming and going.
But I did the math, and now I know how much I'm losing when I get an extra day off: about $135, after taxes. That's how much I make if I do an 8-hour day of overtime.
Is it work $135 for me to have a day off?
(It might be, at this point....I think I've done six days a week for close to a month now.)
Everyone says "Don't get used to the paychecks with all that overtime" but god, it's hard not to.
