aprilstarchild: (Sherlock is smokin' hot)
I just got a tumblr notification that tells me that ivyblossom is following me. (For the non-tumblrites: She's a fairly well-known slash writer in the Sherlock fandom. JFC I just rec'ed one of her stories a couple of days ago.)

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I suppose that's what I get for participating in a long meta conversation started by Benedict's distasteful remarks towards slash fiction. Which isn't something I normally do--I usually just reblog meta without much commentary, as other people usually say exactly what I'm thinking.

Anyway. She reblogged one of the comments I made to a quote from the show (and not my most eloquent one, but WTF-ever), so aaaaugh that's going to get a bunch of notes.

IN OTHER NEWS I decided to not even day-trip the Oregon Country Fair this year, which makes only the second time since 1998. It was just going to be a hassle to get a ride, and fuck it. Especially since I seriously need to do some laundry and buy some groceries and I'm always too tired after work. Right now some towels are in the wash, and then the sheets are next, and then I'm going to gird my loins and brave Trader Joe's on a Sunday. I might wait until almost-dark though, as it's hot outside right now and by then it should be less crowded.

I'm kinda bummed about missing the Fair, I admit, but it's not that much fun when you're alone (which I would be) anyway. I keep saying "Next year I'll camp and stay all three days" but it hasn't happened in SO long. Maybe next year, hah.

Oh, and the seventh of July marked TEN YEARS I have had this LJ account. That's almost a third of my life. Back when I got on you had to have a code from someone!

I'd had paper diaries/journals off and on for years but could never keep them up regularly. It's amazing that giving me a small audience (also, being able to type--so much faster than handwriting) means that I actually write about my day-to-day life, but what I lost in privacy (learning about the f-locking option was fantastic) I've more than made up for by actually having a journal that covers so much of my life.

There were spells where I didn't update it often, either because I was too depressed or I didn't have internet access or I was just lazy. Or for a while there LJ was bleeding people left and right so I didn't bother, but now that I have a bunch of new LJ friends (mostly through fandom) I update all the time!

I do sometimes think about getting a paid account just to friends-lock everything up to, oh, a year ago--some of my early posts are embarrassing. Or downloading the whole thing (via ljbook.com) or mirroring it on Dreamwidth, because if I lost my journal I'd be heartbroken, y'know?
