Note to self: Do not listen to the Tori Amos song "Leather" just before attempting to go to bed. Even if I love that song. Because if you happen to have a case of insomnia, it will go around and around and around and around in your head. I should have given up and fetched my iPod just to get something else stuck in there.

The rain last night was spectacular. I saw a few lightning flashes but there wasn't any thunder where I was, dammit! Grr. The storm probably contributed to my insomnia.

And I woke up because my allergies were bugging me.

Yeah, I know, whine whine whine.

On a slightly more upbeat note: Look at this wickedly awesome dress! The brand Baby, the Stars Shine Bright made a vampire-themed dress. The design of the dress itself is fairly simple, the print around the skirt is what makes it vampiric. Most of the other lolis prefer it in the other colors, not the red, but I like the red.

In any case, daaaaamn I wish I could buy it (at almost $300, not likely). It's even a perfect size for me. I'd have the awesomest dress ever for Vampire Masquerade next year. Hell, I'd probably wear it every year. WANT!

At least half the lolis on [livejournal.com profile] egl are drooling over this dress, or the other two items made with the same print.

I meant to leave the house FOUR HOURS AGO. Oh well. *sigh* Better late than never. I'm packed up to leave after I post. I think I've just been dreading the hour-plus I'm going to spend on the bus, especially since I have to transfer buses a few times.

In other news:

I've been thinking about trying cyclocross for something close to three years now, ever since I went to a bikeportland meetup and started talking to a member of Team Beer. At the time I only had the Raleigh, and he was trying to convince me to ride 'cross with it, because "You'd get sooo many cheers just for the audacity of doing it with that bike!!"

There are a lot of women who ride 'cross in Portland. I can't deny that that's part of the appeal. It looks like 10x more fun than road racing. I went to a Cross Crusade race last year and the women's race has plenty of amateurs in it. The Portland races are awesome--some are costumed, even.

And now that I have a lightweight bike with a diamond frame, it's a conceivable notion, as I can pick it up and put it over my shoulder to run/get over barriers when I need to.

So yup. In a few weeks I'm going to attend this. Dunno if just one night or all three. I have no idea if I'll sign up for any races after that. Worst case scenario: I learn more about 'cross and get lessons in bike handling, which I could probably use anyway!!
