Jul. 9th, 2009 10:24 pmTuesday night: Had fun at the Pedal Potluck Picnic with other people in costumes. Got to karaoke and had people buying me beers...ended up taking off my dress because hey, I had a shirt and short-shorts on underneath, and dammit if I didn't want to dance! Um...yeah, I was a tad drunk.
Checked my voicemail while taking a break outside. It was my mom, saying they could help me out with my cell phone bill, but not rent, although I was welcome to move back in with them. Started freaking out. A handful of people came up while I was unlocking my bike, and asked what was wrong (I was visibly upset). I start to cry. Steph R. gives me a hug, at which point I start sobbing, "I don't want to move back to the suburbs!" Then she says, "I can loan you the money." I replied, "*snif* What?" "I can loan you the money. Please accept a loan from a friend." "Oh...okay." The next morning there was an email from Steph: "I meant it. Let me know what you need."
HOLY MOLY. My friends are awesome.
Shawn and I biked up to
seams_unusual's marina on Wednesday to see her get married. It turns out Shawn doesn't even like weddings, so between that and meeting a bunch of old friends I don't see much, he gets the Awesome Boyfriend Award for coming along. The free booze may have helped in that regard, though.
The wedding ceremony itself was awesome. Short and sweet and funny. Also, there were pirates.
Before (was it before? or after?) the ceremony, we did a lot of hat-trading, which got silly, as Tyson has a huge head. I put on his top hat (with goggles on it, a handful of people dressed steampunk) and it came down past my nose. I put it on top of poor Shawn's head and started squealing and giggling, it was so fucking cute. I so wish I'd had my camera with me. Shawn is probably glad I didn't. I apparently look cute in Patrick's fedora, though.
After most of the guests had left, a bunch of grown-ups took over the inflated bouncy thing that was for the kids. It was fun.
Shawn got me a secondhand therma-rest for bike camping. It's almost as comfy as my damn bed. Hallelujah.
seams_unusual! I did end up taking a bit of lavender I found on the ground on my way out. I stuck in my brake hoods on one side, and now whenever I brake with that side, I smell lavender! Dunno how long it'll manage to stay there, but for now it's lovely. :^)
Today,
jenhowell made yummy lasagna and now I have a key to her house and the responsibility of her cats until she gets back. Maybe Lucy will finally like me...but I doubt it, as part of my job is to keep her inside. Poor Lucy!
