Feb. 20th, 2009 01:02 pmTried to ride one of Lily's bikes yesterday, but the seat was so low I could put my feet flat on the ground, and even then, I hated how low the handlebars were. The route we're riding this weekend is fairly flat and only 22 miles (hahaha I love being able to say, "only" 22 miles), so fuck it, I'm riding my own bicycle.
It's only an overnight trip, I'm going to air out my mummy bag and buy some food, I won't have to pack very many clothes, which is nice. And we're staying in a heated cabin with showers and all that. Yessss. Best beginner bike "camping" trip ever. And the people who are coming along are people I know and like. Lily's bringing board games, we're stopping in the town of Banks for beer, I cannot wait.
Met up with Shawn G. at Los Gorditos, which is just as good as everyone says it is. They have vegan cheese and sour cream! We got there right before it got super-busy. After we ate we went to the Horse Brass Pub, which amazingly doesn't smell like cigarettes at all. Pre-smoking ban, it was one of the smokiest bars in Portland, and the owner has been one of the most outspoken people against the smoking ban. They must have done a really good job cleaning it.
Mmmm....beer.
We didn't get back to his place on Glisan until around one am. I sent a text to my roommate Donna that went something like: "at shawn g,s house see you tomorrow". Dunno if she got it.
He got up way before I did to go to work, he works at the Hosteling International on Hawthorne. When I managed to drag my ass out of bed, I got breakfast at Paradox (never been there on a weekday morning) and had lots of good food and coffee before stopping by the Hostel. I've only ever been there for the Bike-In Movie during Pedalpalooza last summer, where I got kinda drunk and didn't see any movies!
