Jan. 3rd, 2009 12:04 amSo there's a doctor at work I really like named Mindy. She works half a week where I do, and the other half of the week she works teaching internal medicine at OHSU (Oregon Health and Sciences University). She's also a hardcore cyclist, and before she became a doctor, she was a bike messenger in Boston, which (I've read) is one of the most bike-unfriendly cities in the US, after L.A. I swear she probably still rides the same bike she did then--it's almost a mountain bike, it's all scratched up and has ratty stickers on it and the seat is falling apart and she locks it with a covered chain! It is a well-loved bicycle. Mindy and her husband and daughter moved her partially because Portland is so bike-friendly. Yay!
But I digress (as usual).
Today I walk into the office where most of the providers sit, and Mindy is talking to one of the nurses. I glance at Mindy before I look through her stack of charts (I am, as always, looking for a chart), and I see her wearing....a Trogdor hoodie!!
I couldn't help myself. I blurted out, "OH MY GOD, it's Trogdor!!" She had been talking to the nurse, but she stopped and giggled and said, "I know, this sweatshirt is several years old." We both just blushed and giggled for several moments. She pointed out that no one else had recognized it so far. I pointed out that I used to have that whole episode memorized. I eventually did find the chart I was looking for, and muttered, "Look at all his majesty!" before leaving the room.
It was a fun and silly moment. And now I'm going to look up the cartoon again.
