Oct. 24th, 2007 08:33 pmSo after I got home earlier, I remembered I had a can of vegan dog food. I mashed some up with a teeny bit of water and put Frodo on the bed with me. She didn't run around like she used to, but she did walk around a bit, and when I presented her with the food on a spoon repeatedly she always took a bite or two or more, which made me feel good. At one point she lay half under my robe on the bed and while I said soothing things and we looked at each other, she started bruxing. Bruxing is when a rat rubs their top and bottom teeth together. They sometimes do it when agitated (like when they fight) but she seemed pretty content. And then she boggled at me!! When a rat bruxes really enthusiastically, because of the way their heads are built, their eyes literally pop out a little, and it's called boggling. It's freaky if you've never seen it before or don't know what it is, but when you do, it just makes you so damn happy because it generally means they're a happy camper.
Thank you, youtube.
So, after spending part of my day at work freaking out before giving up and going home, that made me feel pretty good. I've been a lot more calm since then.
My other rats, OTOH, keep going nuts. "We want time out!! Pay attention to uuuuuus!!!"
