The Usual Karaoke Recap
Oct. 11th, 2007 10:50 am"Enjoy the Silence": I just need to get over the fact that Depeche Mode is just in the wrong range for me. If I sing it in the same octave, it's just a few notes too low. If I sing it up an octave, I just suck. If I'm singing without the instrumental part I can hit a comfy key and sing okay, but that doesn't work when I'm up there. Bah.
"Fast as You Can": Okay, I just need to practice this one a few times with the lyrics in front of me.
dragon_mintz said I did the middle slow part just fine, though. I think I was so relieved to get there that I was able to relax a little. >_< I do like singing Fiona, for sure. There's a few songs from "When the Pawn..." that I seriously wish they had, like "Paper Bag": "...hunger hurts, but I want him, so bad oh it kills, 'cause I know I'm a mess he don't wanna clean up, I got to fold 'cause these hands are too shaky to hold..."
"Lovely Rita": Bad bad instrumental background. It was my first song and I was nervous. Blargh. There's some lovely turns of phrases in that song, like "made her look a little like a military man" or "sitting on the sofa with a sister or two."
I'm borrowing a CD from
dragon_mintz that I'm tempted to label "Karaoke warmup music" because that's kinda what she uses it for. But it has Sarah Mahclaclan's "Posession" on it, which I've wanted to do in karaoke for a while, but I had no way to practice. Another one where I might print out the lyrics and practice a few times. Especially since I have to learn to sing the lower harmony in one part of the chorus.
Lab tonight, yay! Except I haven't done the homework yet. I suck. But I get to see
glitterninja for lunch and that's all good.
Bah, break over, time to work.
