aprilstarchild: (It's Halloween and I have a hat)
Oh Jesus that was fun. I think I ended up taking one of the shorter routes, though; I got so excited I ended up near the front. Lots of honking, high-fives, shouting...and sure enough, at one point I saw some random guy at the side of the road who had seen us, and got off his bike and started yanking off his clothes.

I did indeed paint "less gas more ass" on my back (or rather, I asked someone else to do so). I got lots of comments on it. That...and my breasts. Jesus. Mostly women and slightly drunk men. One of the women was there with her boyfriend, and she was a stripper, and she was asking "who are you guys? what's going on?" and when I explained the event, she thanked me and then asked if my breasts were real. o_O

I kept ending up in awesome conversations with completely random people--before, during, and after (and two people on the way home who had been in the ride). That was cool. I saw a guy named Jimmy I slept with for a few months in the fall of '04, and he was running around after the ride in his boxers and had a half-empty bottle of wine in one hand. He was like, "I was totally riding behind you! I knew it was you!" and I said, "What, you recognized my ass??" and he started stumbling over his words, "No! It was, ah, uh, I don't know!" That's what I get for standing on my pedals.

Jimmy was talking to a guy from the Oregonian. How the fuck do I always manage to randomly find the press guy? Anyway, he had boxers on and had painted "MEDIA" across his chest, I guess to match his lovely press badge. He took a picture of my back and took my name and asked me and Jimmy some questions. I asked if he was going to print the picture, and he said maybe just the "less gas" part, since "the Oregonian is a family newspaper." *lol*

I'm 99% sure that the guy deejaying the party before and after was DJ Gregarious from the Fez. It was the same damn music. Ha.

But the ride!! So fucking awesome. I can't remember the last time I did the entire Hawthorne bridge in third gear (I only have three), and I rode over the grating--rather rattly, but it was fun to look down and see the river. I'm surprised I'm not hoarse from yelling and whooping. I was taking hills like it was no big deal. And adrenaline does keep you warm, although busting ass going up to 23rd probably helped a lot.

Oh, and I randomly ran into a guy from work--I can't remember if he's a social worker or one of the drug and alcohol counselors. In any case, this was early on, when most people were still fully dressed. I asked if he was going on the ride, and he said he wasn't sure. I think I mostly laughed and said we'd probably be riding by our building (we totally did, ha ha ha).

Anyway. I still have paint on, but oh fucking well. I'm climbing into bed anyway.

WOOOO!
