Apr. 6th, 2007 06:52 amI got enough sleep last night, but I'm still tired. I'm the kind of tired that, I think, is more mental than physical (which isn't to say that I'm not physically tired, just that it's not the majority of my tiredness).
I think Katrina and I have at least opened every box up in the shop. I think I got rid of about a third of it. I was hoping to get rid of half, but I forgot how many books I have, and I hate getting rid of books. I just hate it. I still have a paperback I liked in fifth grade, and all my American Girls books (I have all five of the original series for Felicity, and most of Kirsten's and Samantha's, and a random handful of Molly and Addy). Gawd. I still like those books. I kept some of the textbooks I liked best (but not the French in Action book); one is a book of short stories, another is a book of non-fiction essays, and I kept the Western Civ textbooks I liked so much. Yay!
*confused* Speaking of American Girls, I can't have gone through all my stuff, 'cause I didn't see my Felicity doll, and I know I never got rid of her.
I have, like, two large bookshelves and a bunch of smaller ones. My decorating theme seems to be, tons and tons of books with knickknacks in front of them, and lots of knickknack things and posters hanging on the wall.
Jarrod has a tendency to not keep anything, I have a tendency to keep everything. I hope this isn't a source of too much conflict. >_<
To my eternal embarrassment, not only is half my stuff covered in mouse droppings (Katrina and I took a bunch of stuff out of the shop, dumped it out of the boxes, and shook it off before putting it back in!), but some of my furniture has ants. One of the reasons we're glad to leave this house is because it's got ants! I'm going to make up another bottle of diluted bleach, and spray things and rinse them and let them dry outside, before taking them into the new house. No fucking way I'm risking ants in my nice new house!!
jenhowell and I biked up there yesterday to sign all the rental paperwork. It's about a ten-minute ride from our current location...and going to the house, the part going up Gladstone is hard work! Which sucks, because that means most of the difficult biking is on the way back from People's Co-op, when our bikes will be laden with groceries. Speaking of which, I need to get around to putting a rack on my bike. I haven't decided if I want to keep riding the Raleigh, or if I want to buy an old road bike and fix it up a bit at a time with help from people like
5minutelimit and
jameslentz.
Anyway. Off to the shower and a treasure hunt for clean-enough clothes.
