Sep. 4th, 2006 09:40 amRode the bike from our house, over the Hawthorne bridge, along the Westside waterfront, over the bottom of the Steel bridge (with the max train clattering overhead most of the way across), along the Eastside waterfront, up to Hawthorne, and then back home. I think we were gone maybe an hour or less, mostly because I'm kinda slow still.
I like riding through Ladd's Addition. The waterfront was covered in people walking and biking, which was kinda cool.
I still ride my brakes going downhill. I hate feeling like I might lose control over my bike if I start going super-fast when coasting. It's probably not good for the brakes, but it makes me feel safer. Brake pads are replaceable.
I saw another guy on a Raleigh. It was either really well-maintained, or restored, because it was all shiny. I didn't have a chance to catch up with him. Dunno what I would have said. "Hey, you! Nice bike!" *lol*
