aprilstarchild: (I'm too sexy)
What was I going to say?

Got another replacement plug thing for my eye. Those drains are called punctum, btw. I'm tired of paying copays, goddamn. Wore the contacts for several hours today though, yay!

The house I went to yesterday is awesome. Big porch. The room I'd rent, if I get it, is light blue and has slanted ceilings and is pretty big. The kitchen is huge, but doesn't have cabinets. The stairs are very steep.

BTW: It seems to be a huge point against me that I currently live/work in Beaverton. WTF is up with that? It's not by choice, people!

I like the people who live there, the two I got to meet. But, omg, I know I came off as a total spaz. Gaaah.

Oh, so there's this guy who's always at The Fez, no matter what night I'm there. [livejournal.com profile] jenhowell and I have taken to calling him Napoleon Dynamite, because that's who he reminds us of. The last time I was there, he complimented me on my dancing, yah?

Last night [livejournal.com profile] sagcat and I were at a bar just off Belmont, talking etc., and Napoleon Dynamite walked in. He was sitting across the place from us, so I didn't think he'd noticed me. But when I went up to get us each another beer, he said, "I thought I recognized you! I see you at the Fez all the time! You look different without your sexy dance clothes on." I laughed and we talked about Bhangra music this Saturday, and how crowded it is.

Anyway. Off to do laundry, etc. Oy, do I need to.
aprilstarchild: (knitting!)
So, I sometimes play this harp-thing. I think I may have mentioned it a time or two. ;^)

And I have a camera that can take movies.

You can download 47 seconds of me and my harp over here. You'll recognize the tune, I think. It was the first song I learned to play. With the same arrangement I learned back then (yay for fifths!). I'm sure Nana got so, so sick of that song.

OMG. It's been a while since I've played. I took lessons for eight months, and that ended a year and a half ago. But I remember some of the tunes, still. Go Muscle Memory.

I have a longer one of me playing other songs, and messing up a bunch. *lol* It didn't upload though, boo.

I'm in my room. The camera is propped up on pillows and books. The crap on my bed is mostly laundry. My hand position is wince-worthy, my old harp teacher would slap my dang hand. Thumbs up! Fingers pulled all the way into my palm!

*le sigh* It's amazing how much I remember. And how much playing the harp still affects me. It's like nothing else. Heh, [livejournal.com profile] arielrose will understand.
aprilstarchild: (It's Halloween and I have a hat)
Y'know what's kinda sad? It's only February, and I'm already itching to go places. Especially Pirate's Gathering and the Oregon Country Fair.

Re: Pirate's Gathering: The ship I'm a member of, The Leo's Pride, camps with the rogues anyway. So while my friends can't camp on the actual "ship" (aka the area marked off as our ship), they can be pretty dang close. I thought we were part of the Castillian Alliance, but we're not. Even though many of our ship's members came from Alliance ships. Even though our captain's lady, is either the captain or first mate of a ship in the Alliance.

Anyway. I need to get my pictures of last year's Gathering up on the newer liquidaffinity picture site, so I can show you guys. I'd love for lots of friends to come along. If for no other reason than to see you guys in "garb." Heh. I can loan some of my stuff out, but I'm not sure who would fit what. Chemises are pretty much one-size-fits-all. I only have one seperate skirt (that'll change soon). Bodices are the tricky part...and none of mine really fit anymore. I have some somewhere that have always been too big (I got'em secondhand). I'm hoping that Katrina finds an old one of hers that's too small for her now, as it might fit me. Hopefully it's a true wench/barmaid style, the ones I have are relatively conservative and/or squish me pretty flat. I have that red corset I bought myself for my birthday, I could get away with that over a chemise with a skirt, especially if I make the neckline loose and yank it down low. Not terribly accurate, but the Pirates are notorious for their lack of accuracy anyway. Welcome to piracy: aka, let's piss off the rest of the SCA!!

If any of the clothing stuff confused the crap out of you, Renstore might help you out a bit. I have their Irish Dress in purple, and their long chemise.

Heh. Trying to imagine a few of my female friends in rennfaire/SCA/pirate getup is really freaking funny. It seems like the visual equivalent of a non sequitur.

Just a reminder, it's Memorial Day Weekend. Please plan accordingly. :^)

Aaaaand then there's the Oregon Country Fair. I have pictures galore of last year over here, and no; it's not just naked people and pot. There's none of any in my pictures as far as I know. I'd love to get a rough estimate of who wants to go to OCF, it's more fun to camp in a group. Makes it easier to figure out food, obviously, as well.

*le sigh* Paganfaire is my first real taste of the festival life, and that's March 11th. I don't know where it is this year, but I'm looking forward to seeing [livejournal.com profile] arielrose and Heather Alexander perform, and seeing people I haven't seen in ages, and poking around at all the booths. It just makes me all itchy for all the fun stuff that happens in the summer!

Okay, bedtime.

EDIT: FaerieWorlds! Joules Graves is going to be there on Saturday, and I haven't seen her in years. OMG. That'll bring back memories of my tree-sitting days. So will Casey Neill. "Hooray for the riff-raff!"

But Trillian Green is playing Sunday night. Is anybody planning on staying until Sunday evening? :^( I wanna see them so bad...
