This comic sums up my entire life, I swear

Probably TMI, but today is the "heavy" day of my period, so of course I have to work and I have chorus later, when I'd rather just stay home all day, sleeping and reading and eating.
I keep forgetting I have that DVD of a Bjork concert. I watched bits and pieces of it last night with my dad's good headphones. It's a concert for Vespertine, which means....a lot of harp. OMG. *dies of happy* I literally got weepy during Pagan Poetry. The harpist playing with Bjork rocks eighty different ways. Her name is Zeena Parkins, and I want to own some of her solo stuff. There's a bit on the DVD about her, and she plays a pedal harp (a big Camac electric harp--they're bright blue!) but didn't get a lot of formal training. When I saw how she holds her hands, I suspected as much--her thumb isn't as high as it usually is on people playing the pedal harp, who've had classical-style training.
The camera guy spent a lot of time doing close-ups with Zeena Parkins. She really attacks the dang thing...sometimes when the light hit the strings right, you could tell that the gut strings were literally fraying. During her bit on the DVD she says she often uses the harp as a percussion instrument. It's crazy and really awesome.
