So, yesterday: Met up with
galactogogue in Powell's. We ran back to her house and I changed clothes (ended up wearing jeans), and then took the bus to the Roseland. Had a drink downstairs before going up and finding a good spot to stand during the last opening band.
Franz Ferdinand kicked ass. Everyone knew the words to their first album, so there was lots of singing. Every guy in it was at least semi-cute. The lead singer is a huge attention-whore. Him and the lead guitarist were totally flirting with the audience and acting totally hyper, jumping up and down all over the stage and off the drum kit. The bassist was such a stereotypical bassist, hanging back most of the time.
I have pictures. Yay!! They're not bad, actually. Lots of people were using their digital cameras and cell phone cameras. I thought of recording actual video, but the sound was so loud I was afraid of busting the mic in my camera.
After that, we walked to Voodoo Donuts. Yummy, oh Yes. And then walked back to her place, because it was nice outside and I love walking on the bridges in Portland anyhow. Got a few more pictures, including one of the two of us.
I love
galactogogue's place, btw. It's in an older house that's been converted to some apartments. She has a full kitchen and a sizable bathroom and lots of windows. Plus her decorating taste is almost exactly the same as mine--random crap (posters etc) from all over mixed in with lots of pictures of loved ones and a gazillion books. She has pictures of the hobbits in her room too--yay! We didn't stay awake long. I was surprised, because I drank a Red Bull just as the show started, and I totally crashed.
We walked near Lloyd Center this morning (after some yummy Stumptown coffee with rice milk, and toast, and tofu) so I could go by the bank and then went our seperate ways.
I looked for shoes in several places but didn't find anything I liked/wasn't leather. But by then I was on 23rd already and could smell the Lush store. I ended up buying Lemslip (a new soap-y thing) and one of the masks you keep in the fridge and Dream Cream. Yikes. And then I was really stupid and went into Powell's. *headslap* Yah, shoes may have to wait. I managed to spend the same amount of cash I'd set aside for shoes. Der. But I got hardback copies of two of my favorite books ever: Wise Child and Juniper by Monica Furlong. Yay!! Also a neato empty journal, the new issue of Bust, La Dolce Vegan, and Love on a Rotten Day (a really funny astrology book I've had my eye on for ages). Everything but La Dolce Vegan was on sale, so I didn't do too bad, actually.
Ate at Veganopolis and then went to Whole Foods. I bought things for specific recipes (yay!) with one exception. I was walking by the frozen desser stuff and they had vegan cool-whip type stuff. OMG!! Yay!! Something to put on my future vegan pies. Life rocks.
And now I'm at home and tired but I have food to cook. Woot.
