"So, tomorrow, at noon, UPN will be at Things From Another World in Beaverton, giving away passes to an advance screening of Serenity that will happen later that day at 7pm at the Century Eastport Theater."

Thought you'd like to know.

Information nabbed from [livejournal.com profile] valliegirl.

If you put your LJ name in images.google.com, you end up seeing whatever icons you've used in non-locked entries and/or in replies to other non-locked entries. So very, very odd.

Yeah, I was totally bored last night. *LOL*

[livejournal.com profile] galactogogue and I are going to see Franz Ferdinand on October third. I'm totally taking the next day off as a vacation day if at all possible, because there's no way in hell I'm going to work bright and early the next day. "Take Me Out" was their biggest hit, they actually play at the Fez sometimes, because while it's not 80's music, it sure sounds like it! In a good way, of course. Well, the second track on their first album sounds like 60's pop. Whatever.

What's really cool, is their new album comes out the next day! KNRK is having a call-in thing, and you'd get in the after-party free, meet the band, and listen to their new album. But alas, unless I'm doing sorting I don't get to listen to KNRK at work, which is when the call-in thing is.

But, the song Michael is so gay. No, literally. )

I'm thinking of leaving my church, officially. There's no point in being a member of it if I'm not going. I don't feel like I'm in a place right now to really commit to it, y'know? It would be easier, I suppose, if there were more people there my age, or if I was dating another "liberal" Christian or something. *shrug* I'm supposed to be in charge of the 10,000 Villages sale near Christmas but I haven't even sent away for the stuff, and I should have done that weeks ago. I don't know if I should actually do so or just give the information back to the Board of Mission and Outreach and resign. Hm.

I love fall!! OMG. [livejournal.com profile] ruby_wings and I ate baked acorn squash last night. With tasty vegan margarine and brown sugar and honey substitute (agave nectar--if I let it rot will I get tequila? *lol*) and cinnamon.

You cut it in half (rather tricky, actually), scoop out the seeds etc, put margarine and brown sugar in the cavities and put honey (or substitute) and cinnamon on top. Bake at 350F for 45 minutes. Let cool a little and put it in a bowl and just scoop the flesh right out of the shell with a fork or spoon. I mixed mine all up so the margarine would be spread out evenly.

Looking forward to Halloween, oh yes (gah! need to get my ass to the shop and find my costume). And then my birthday. Of course.

I'm gonna make me some pies this year. I swear. It's possible to make vegan pumpkin pies. So I will.

And get a tattoo on/near my birthday, dammit. Ha, a picture of it would make the awesomest LJ icon, yes?

The pic on this icon came from a pumpkin patch. Woot.

Joss Whedon was interviewed in Sunday's Oregonian, in the O! section (a weird combo of Arts and Living).

For those of you who don't buy the paper.

And yes, he talks about Serenity.

You Are A: Squirrel!

sqirrelSquirrels are quick and cheerful animals who spend their time scurrying, scavenging, and playing. As a squirrel, you are often seen jumping happily from branch to branch up in the treetops. Squirrels are foragers searching for nuts and seeds, and they are social animals often seen chasing and playing with other squirrels.

You were almost a: Parakeet or a Mouse
You are least like a: Bear Cub or a TurtleDiscover What Cute Animal You Are!

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] matt_nothing, the newest member of my friends list. He used to live in Portland, no longer does, and likes to ask me lots of questions about Portland that I am incapable of answering. *lol* Everyone wave to him!

In other news, my parents kick ass sometimes. My mom ordered pizza, and got me a smaller one with no cheese. What sucks is I googled Domino's and thought I read something that their crusts were vegan. When I looked again (after the pizza had been ordered), alas, there is whey in the crust. Sauce is vegan though. I ate it anyway, as my mom had already paid for it and it was on its way. Plus, now I have leftover pizza for a few days. Woot.

EDIT: Because I don't need to post any more today.

You are 'growing one's own food'.

You are guided by two words: 'Live simply.' You
value quality over quantity in most things, and
you have little use for the materialism and
consumerism of modern culture. You know the
value of hard work and try to be
self-sufficient as much as possible, and what
you do you do well. Unfortunately, no man is
an island, and you cannot do everything
yourself. Your puritanical work ethic makes
makes people think that you are weird, and not
much fun. Your problem is that growing one's
own food has been obsolete for a long time.

What obsolete skill are you?

Pfft. Yeah right.

Last post today. I swear.

There's an artist named Stephanie Pui-Mun Law, that [livejournal.com profile] dragon_mintz showed me many months ago, and she's finished the Major Arcana of a tarot deck she's working on. I was going through her stuff and found lots of things I really like. I'm going to be dangerous when I have plastic money.

This is one of my favorites. Other ones I like are her pictures of a phoenix, and one of Hades and Persephone. As I told [livejournal.com profile] trillium_flower, how very Scorpio of me. Images of fall. Of death and regeneration. Ha. I also really liked her Hermit and Devil images for the tarot. And I loved the one of the woman with butterflies for the RAINN calender.

I love love love how she uses color. Also, all the circles and curves. Damn near everything is circular or curved or arching. So, so cool.

*still poking around* Most of my coven is going to end up owning her tarot deck. *lol*

EDIT: Doood. I want this one. Holy shit. That kicks ass. Nasty, nasty fairy!! Eek! I don't know if I want to stare all day, or cower in fear. Probably both.

Too bad I didn't see any harps. Dang. If I had the cash, I'd be commissioning a picture of some kind of fairy playing a harp. Except I'd send her pictures of real harps. I don't know why, considering it's fantasy, but fantasy art with really unrealistic looking harps ("hey, there's no soundbox, and that would collapse in on itself, and, and...") really irritates the crap out of me. I think partially because real harps are so gorgeous on their own. You can make fantastical-looking harps that would, in theory, be playable. Hmph.

EDIT, pt 2, 10:30pm: Cannot stop staring at evil fairy. Aaaaagh! I'd try making an LJ icon out of her, but when would I use it? That's not a mischevious fairy, or a trickster fairy. That's not a prankster, or just cranky. That's a downright evil fairy. I don't feel evil very often.
