aprilstarchild: (You're fucking serious?)
baaaah, it's a meme )

Dood. Pineapples are really acidic. My mouth hurt for a bit after lunch. I decided to eat them because a few people on [livejournal.com profile] veganpeople said it helped keep down swelling, and I figured it couldn't hurt. Well, it did. *lol* I used to eat lemons when I was younger, so the sensation is familiar if unpleasant.

Tomorrow [livejournal.com profile] dragon_mintz and I get to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and eat dinner and stuff. Woo hoo! Then the next day is when I get my teeth pulled.

Made the mistake of saying why I was going to be gone for a few days, today at work. Next thing you know I'm hearing a pile of horror stories. It's almost as bad as hearing childbirth horror stories, I swear.

Speaking of childbirth--something I've noticed is that I love empire waisted stuff, but almost never wear it because it always makes me look pregnant. If/when I'm ever pregnant, I'm going to wear nothing but empire waisted stuff just because I can. You watch me.

I've eaten pancakes since getting home from work. I think I'll eat some ramen too. I have the shittiest diet sometimes. *shrug*

I *heart* carbs, man.

So [livejournal.com profile] dragon_mintz and I were discussing our Halloween costumes. Her and [livejournal.com profile] alicia_stardust are going shopping for materials tomorrow.

I decided earlier this year that I was going to go as Janis Joplin. I have before, back in '98. This time I'm old enough to buy a bottle of Southern Comfort, so I will be properly accessorized.

Pictures from the time period I'm going for, not too big. )

Now, I have most of the costume already--although I really need to get working on the boxes in the shop to find it all. A filmy blue top, bell bottomed jeans (I may buy some with bigger bells than the ones I've got), silvery heels that used to belong to my mom before I was born. I need some maribou/feather boas for my hair, the more colorful the better. Someone mentioned they have one, but I don't remember who. The huge round glasses are everywhere near Halloween, and I know I've seen some with pink lenses. I plan to have contacts by then so that won't be an issue. As for my hair, it's a matter of washing it but no conditioner, putting it in lots of teeny braids, letting it air dry, spraying with hair spray, taking it out and running a comb through it all--POOF!! I could put it in hot rollers with lots of hair spray, that has the same effect. I don't have hot rollers though, and I'm no good at putting my long-ass hair in rollers. That would be more accurate though. Hmmm...

I need a few strands of beads, I think. I had some ones actually from the 60's the last time I dressed up as her, but I think I don't have them anymore. Anybody own some or something like it?

I tend to go for costumes mostly made of stuff I already have. Especially since, as a general rule, I dress as something different every single year.

I love Halloween. And not just because of Halloween itself. The day after Halloween is my dad's birthday, the sixth is my parents' anniversary. The eighth is of course my birthday. Then there's Thanksgiving, and Hannukah, and Solstice, and Christmas all in there. New Years' is actually a very depressing holiday for me, because it means there's nothing more to celebrate for months and months, and in the meantime it's always dark and cold and usually wet. Grrr.
