So: I got home last night, and Nana wanted to talk. Basically, she wants me out of there in about a month.

Well, fuck.

To boot, I was able to get ahold of the manager of Allendale, yes? The listing online is really out of date. Their studios start at $550, and are going up to $575 soon because they're renovating.

Oddly, according to one of the apartment ad books, the building next door starts at $500. I'm going to call them before I get my hopes up.

Also, I still have my eye on the ones just north of Hiway 26, on 185th. Quick bus ride to work, near school for if/when I go back, close to [livejournal.com profile] dragon_mintz. *lol* Only problem there, is they're kinda far from the actual max. Le sigh.

In any case, due to Nana wanting me out and my medical expenses, I'll probably end up living with my parents for the summer. Again. Which will make the third time I've moved back in with them. Blargh. I mean, I guess there are worse things, but I'd really rather avoid it, y'know?

At least I know they'll let me. They all but ask me to move back in half the times I see them. *shrug* Do they miss me that much or something?

What? None of you have heard of Don Hertzfeldt? The cartoon "Rejected" can be seen here.

Beware: Not for the easily disturbed. Although if I can watch and laugh my ass off, it probably won't give most of you any trouble. It is a cartoon, but not for the kiddies.

It used to be that you could find his stuff everywhere. Not anymore. Darn copyrights. *lol*

But, YAY!! He's going to have a DVD out soon. I'll probably buy it--I'd rather have high-quality legal versions anyway.

I went and saw The Animation Show on Sunday, which is a collection of cartoon shorts. Some were meaningful, some were goddamn hysterical. A few of them were really boring. What is it with cartoons made with funding from the French and/or Canadian governments? There were two, and I've seen others before late at night on Cartoon Network or something. They all have the same damn animation style, and no spoken language (I know that we're talking about both English and French speaking people, but c'mon! Subtitles? Two dubs? It ain't that hard, people), and they all bore me to sleep. That's not artsy, that's just meandering with no plot. Pssht. Bleh.

How American of me to say, right? *lol*

The last one was The Meaning of Life by Don Hertzfeldt, and it's a big different than his usual stuff. A hell of a lot more philosophical than, say, Billy's Balloon. Apparently I'm not the only one who finds it mildly disturbing and yet laughs so hard I almost pee my pants. For a while there, [livejournal.com profile] silverrose79 had an icon from it. I think my brother has them all downloaded somewhere, I should ask for a copy of'em.

Oddly, that was the first time I'd ever gone to a movie alone. I've eaten in restaurants etc alone a million times and never given it a second thought. I've gone shopping alone, I've wandered around Portland alone, I've even watched movies at home alone, how have I never gone out to a movie by myself? I have to admit, it was dang weird. I like being able to talk about the movie afterwards, that's one of my favorite things about going to one. *shrug* Oh well.

I must see Howl's Moving Castle before it's out of the theater. I adore Miyazaki. I must make a few of you watch Princess Mononoke sometime.
