Grr. I had a quiz here that I'd gacked from [livejournal.com profile] darksage96, but its own HTML was fucked up and it posted as...well, a bunch of HTML. *pissy*

Random side note: OMG. I'm out of allegra and was in the midst of a rather unpleasant allergy attack (like, the kind where you're literally having to fit words in between sneezing: "I *achoo!* need to *achoo!* find my ben-- *achoo!* --adryl!") when I got back home. Turns out that [livejournal.com profile] singswithtrees and Tyson were renewing their handfasting. It was very very goofy, intentionally. I put on my striped socks and rolled up my pants to match everyone else's outlandish costumes. Oh man, I need to get an email of the pictures that Marty took. Katrina officiated and was very very silly about it. It was all of five minutes long. She was wearing harlequin style tights, a short red ruffly skirt, and a very odd white ruffled top, the ruffles had swiss-cheese type holes. It was also too small, she'd got it when she was twelve. Afterwards we drank mead and Marty's homemade beer. But I'd had some allergy stuff and was acting a lot more woozy then I felt. I was hoping to go hang out at Katrina's, I haven't seen her in ages and I had an invite and a ride and everything, but goddamn. I was so tired that on the 12 bus I kept nodding off. It wasn't even the kind where you close your eyes for "just a second" and then fall asleep. It was the kind where you're looking out the window, and then suddenly are snapping out of nodding off ten seconds later. Freeeeeeaky.

The end of chorus retreat was neat. We went through all the songs in the order we'd perform them. I, along with a lot of other people, would spend the between-songs time writing down the titles of ones that needed practice.

But then they did some I really liked: We all stood in a (very large) circle. Someone had the list of the titles of all of Aurora's shows, and after each of the titles was read off, the women for whom that was their first concert, would go into the middle to join an inner circle and hold hands. The inner circle got bigger and bigger and soon the rest of us couldn't hold hands anymore. Then they asked all the people who were new this term to go into the middle while they all applauded and cheered. I can certainly say this: Aurora Chorus has done a fantastic job of making sure new people feel welcomed. Next spring will be Aurora's fifteenth anniversary, and I'm really excited that I'll get to sing in that.

I bitch about how exhausting retreat was, but Holy Cow has my singing gotten better. Also, the whole chorus has improved incredibly! I think if we keep on top of all the stuff we've done, some songs are done. "Let the River Run" is one of them, which is good; because it's our opening song. *lol*

Oy! Tuesday and Thursday I have chorus rehearsals--the Tuesday one is a sectional that's been hastily arranged because a lot of alto ones want the extra practice together. Friday I leave for Pirate Gathering (it'll be tempting to bring my sheet music, but I probably need a break from it for a few days...ah hell, I'll probably bring at least my discman anyway just out of paranoia) and come back Monday night. Then another Tuesday and Thursday rehearsal--those are both mandatory. That Saturday I have a dress rehearsal and then my concert that Sunday.

Also, the final clothing check is Thursday. Anybody know places likely to have nice purple tops? They are incredibly strict about color. I have a velvet dress of [livejournal.com profile] 5minutelimit's that I can wear if I can't find something, but dood. It's long sleeves and velvet, aka I'm Going to Die of Heat Exhaustion. Plus--shoulder pads. Not attractive on me. *lol*

My concert is in two weeks. Yikes!!

Random and possibly tangentially related note: the obscene pants that [livejournal.com profile] 5minutelimit and I found? I tried them on while Katrina was here to show her, since she's pretty good at the sewing thang.

I had them laced up wrong. See, I wear bodices here and there, and you tend to lace them as tight as they'll go. That's the whole point--they accentuate the female form, shall we say, when laced up. And since well-made bodices have a bit of boning, they hold everything up quite nicely. Same with, well, shoes, I supose. In any case, not the pants. They're meant to not be laced up tightly--the lacing is, technically speaking, decorative; as there's a button and hook and eye flap hidden inside anyway.

With the lacing not pulled tight, they look a hell of a lot more normal. *lol* They're a tad looser on my waist, but not so much that it's visually noticeable or giving me that lovely gap in the back waist that so many pants do. They still look damn near painted on. But I no longer look like I have a second vagina in the front of my pants.
