Getch'yer freak on!
Nov. 15th, 2003 03:06 pmAm slightly more cheerful. After I took the intercampus shuttle to Rock Creek I took a nap in the library and read a book called "29 Reasons Not to Go To Law School." It was written in 1982 so some of the stuff was out of date, but still. Useful. If nothing else it helps clarify *why* I want to go to law school. I'm not even sure I'll take the bar exam. Maybe just get the degree and consult. Who knows. Bleh.
In any case met up with a bunch of women from my peace and conflict class and had a study group, sort of. We would stay on topic for all of two minutes at a time, and then start talking about other random things. I knit through the whole thing to keep me from getting too fidgety. I'm almost done with this bit of yarn, though, and either I need to figure out how to keep going with an entirely different yarn (I have another yarn scrap that Deanna gave me, but it's only one ply and a different weight) or finish it off and have a totally useless piece of knitting, as it's not long enough to be a proper scarf.
Well it turns out Raychel was having a bad time recently too, so Rylee invited her to spend the night at her place and then said we should go out. Neither of them are 21 yet, and Rylee really likes Klub Z, so we decided to go there. Plus it's only $5 on Friday nights. I told Rylee that as long as I showered first and borrowed a nicer shirt I'd be happy to go. So off to Rylee's we went. We ate lots of vegetarian food and listened to Cibo Matto and I tried on a bunch of tops. I settled for a little animal print halter top, and gave my rainbow scarf to Raychel, who was already wearing a nifty shirt. After my shower I got really dolled up, I wore makeup and glitter and I even *gasp!* curled my hair a little with a curling iron. I seriously have not done that since my 21st birthday, and before that I hadn't really done that since high school. It was nifty looking, but I did look, like, sixteen. Why does Rylee even *have* a curling iron? Does anyone know?
In any case, we sat around because it was too early to leave, talking the whole time, and then left around eleven. Stopped at Safeway for cash and took off for downtown. The club wasn't very crowded, at any point that night there was around twenty people. The dance floor is built over the bass speakers, and it's made out of black-painted plywood and white plastic and it's all duct-taped together. Real professional-like. They had a bunch of little stages and places to sit in the corners and (woo hoo!) a pole! The pole was up on a stage, right in front of the deejay's booth. I had never pole-danced before but I had fun goofing around. For those of you who don't know, Klub Z is an all-ages gay club. At least in theory. There were a lot of non-gay people there, especially late high school-aged girls. The gay boys were the best at pole dancing. As a matter of fact, I think the only people who pole danced all night were me, Rylee, Raychel, and gay boys. *lol* Everyone just danced with everyone. Rylee is a total flirt of a dancer, she gets her freak on with everyone. 'Twas greatly amusing. The music was funny because it was all house-y sort of techno, and I recognized several of the songs as different mixes of songs on DDR. Seriously. Raychel is a wonderful dancer, she was fun to watch. Rylee knows half the people there, so that's fun. Halfway through the night I just got too damn hot, so I put up my hair a little and grabbed my rainbow scarf back from Raychel. I tied it (with Rylee's help) around my boobs and tada! it's a top! It's appropriate, I think, to wear a rainbow scarf as a top at an underage gay nightclub. According to Rylee I was really sexy. Hee. We were there until around two thirty in the morning, and I had a really good time. Finally I think we all got tired so we left. I ended up sleeping in Rylee's bed with Rylee while Raychel slept in the living room. It was nothing exciting, we talked a bunch before finally nodding off and I ended up snuggling a Stitch doll while she hugged an Eeyore. I'm sure we were adorable.
Woke up just before noon and my phone rang while I was in the bathroom, so Raychel woke up too. Rylee got called into work early so I had her drop me off at the max station. And now here I am in the downtown library posting to my LJ instead of doing math. What a freaking surprise.
In any case, going out for a night and dancing my ass off and having a good time with Rylee and Raychel was an incredible stress relief. I haven't laughed that hard in a really long time. It was just great.
