Every time I eat too much, I get an old Cute Overload post stuck in my head....(in sing-song) "I ate too moishe, I ate too moishe!" And I did today. Or rather, I ate too many greasy things.

Yay for breaded and deep-fried tofu "fish" and home-made french fries and tartar sauce made with Vegenaise. OMG. I'm going to explode, and the walls will be coated with canola oil.

I'm reading a murder mystery, which isn't my usual genre of novel, but it's written by an Icelandic guy and takes place in Reykjavik. After I finished that book about the sagas last weekend, I seem willing to inhale any fiction taking place in Iceland. I also put a DVD of a Globetrekker episode about Iceland on hold at the library.

Yeah, the library...I finally paid off my old fines last month, and now I'm just a book fiend. I'm back to my usual state of existence for much of my life--if I'm not currently involved in a novel, I feel oddly restless and lost. I always have something going on in the back of my mind, and without a novel to fill it, I feel out of sorts. There's been years of my life where I haven't read any novels at all; some of which were admittedly filled with fanfiction instead, so I was still reading fiction fairly regularly, just the same characters and a handful of the same plots over and over. But there have been periods of my life where I read no fiction at all, and that's just sad.

The Portland library is so awesome. I can surf through all the books from home, if I want, and have any that look interesting sent to the Belmont library that's a couple miles from here.

One book I'm really looking forward to getting, is a guide to training rats. Woot. Having them know their names and come when called would be nice, and I know it's not tricky for rats to do. Especially since, as many sources have politely put it, rats are "very food motivated." AKA: "Oh, mommy, I'll do almost anything for a bit of something yummy!" *LOL*

Went dancing at the Fez last night for the first time in ages. That was very much needed and I had a great time!!

It's this stuff:

http://store.foodfightgrocery.com/finchbamix.html

which you can probably get at a normal grocery store. You don't need a deep fryer, but you do need several inches' worth of oil in a pan if you don't have one.

But, yeah: I take a normal block of tofu, wrap it in many layers of paper towels, and put it between two plates with a book on top for about half an hour. Then I slice the tofu into approximately eight pieces before breading and frying them two at a time. One of those boxes makes three or four batches.
